Our Story

My winemaking journey began far from the vineyard, in the world of international teaching that came to an abrupt halt in 2019. What was initially intended to be a short break turned into an extended one, as the global pandemic left me stranded in the United States, unsure of where to go.

At that time, I remembered an old family joke – the promise that one day we would return to the “old world” and make wine. I was captivated by the story of my mother’s family, German immigrants who failed to establish a vineyard in the Ohio River Valley in the 19th century. The stone wine cellar and terraced vineyards they built still stand there today, a silent reminder of their dream.

When I found a historical vineyard cottage Vidošiči 16 , I knew it was exactly what I had been looking for. It was a crazy idea, a complete leap into the unknown, to leave my old life behind and embrace a new one in Bela Krajina.

After much trial and error, the unwavering support of my neighbors, and overcoming every obstacle I can imagine, Vinska Klet V16 is finally ready to share its wines with the world. We hope you enjoy our wines as much as we enjoy making them
